The Day You Left Us

The day you left us, the sun was hiding
It was cloudy and dark, the skies were crying

A storm of all storms, for me that day
So powerful and deep the darkest of grey

Never before did rain have such meaning
Tears of the angels, conducting their screening

They knew I'd be sad with you being gone
But they knew I'd awake to a new day?s dawn

The rain will subside and the clouds will clear
The sun will bring warmth to dry up my tears

My weathered heart will absorb the heat
Like a wood burning fire, so soothing and sweet

Keep the fire burning for the rest of your days
Through the winter rain and the summer?s rays

Take time each day to kindle the fire
My warmth and my love will never expire
